Appearance: Matt.
Spreading Rate: 6 – 10 m²/litre dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 56% by mass and ± 35% by volume.
Density: 1.25 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2 coats x 35 µm per coat minimum.
Viscosity: 85 – 90 Kµ.
Flash Point: Non-flammable.
Storage:
- Keep containers properly sealed.
- Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Features
- Good adhesion: Very good adhesion to most surfaces, i.e. weathered galvanised iron, new galvanised iron, rusted steel, non-rusted steel, aluminium, ceramic wall tiles, Formica/melamine, wood, cement plaster, rigged PVC & fibre cement.
- Rust inhibitor: Prevents formation of rust.
- Quick drying.
- Stain hiding: Prevents stains on surfaces from bleeding through.
- Waterbased.
- Easy clean-up: Equipment is cleaned with water.
- Excellent coverage.
- Low VOC: Reduces the odour associated with painting indoors.
Intended Usages
- Primer for most surfaces.
Application Details
- Mixing: Stir well with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
- Method: Roller (preferably mohair), brush, air assisted or airless spraygun.
- Thinning: Not applicable.
- Cleaning: Tap water. Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with water.
Conditions:
- Temperature between 5°C and 40°C. Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
- Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point.
- If possible away from direct sunlight.
Drying time:
Touch dry – 1 hour at 23°C.
Note: Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).
Recoating time:
8 hours for water based paints and 48 hours for solvent based paints at 23°C.

Surface Preparations
Rusted/Weathered galvanised iron:
- Remove rust, sand and clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pads.
- Rinse with water and allow drying.
- Apply two coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Galvanised iron:
- Remove rust, sand and clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pads.
- Rinse with water and allow drying.
- Apply two coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Non-rusted steel:
- Degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pad.
- Rinse with water and allow drying.
- Apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Rusted steel:
- Remove rust, degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pad.
- Rinse with water and allow to dry.
- Apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Aluminium:
- Sand, degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5), rinse with water and allow drying.
- Apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Ceramic wall tiles:
- Sand, degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and abrasive pad.
- Rinse with water and allow drying. Apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Formica/Melamine (vertical surfaces):
- Degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5), scrub with scouring pads.
- Rinse with water and allow drying.
- Apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Wood:
- Sand, dust off and apply 2 coats Prominent Ultra Prime.
Cement plaster:
- Brush off any loose particles and apply directly.
Rigged PVC:
- Degrease with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water solution (1:5) and scouring pad, sand lightly and apply directly.
Fibre cement:
- Scrub with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5) and scouring pad, rinse with clean water, allow to dry and apply directly.
Chromadek:
- Clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5), while still wet abrade with abrasive pad to a matt finish.
- Rinse with running water, allow drying and apply directly.
Powder coating:
- Clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5), while still wet abrade with abrasive pad to a matt finish.
- Rinse with running water, allow drying and apply directly.
Alufoil:
- Clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner/water mixture (1:5), while still wet abrade with abrasive pad to a matt finish.
- Rinse with running water, allow drying and apply directly.
Limitations
- The low VOC compliance is applicable for batches manufactured from 1 January 2011 onwards
- Can only be applied under specified conditions.
- Prominent Ultra Prime can only be overcoated with solvent based coatings 48 hours after application.
- The application of Prominent Ultra Prime to ceramic tiles is limited to wall surfaces only.
- Tinting is not recommended.
- Prominent Ultra Prime should not be used on horizontal surfaces (floor or working surfaces).
Safety
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
- In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner.
- Avoid contact with eyes.
- In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice
- If product is ingested drink plenty of water.
- Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.

- To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure and upright position.
