Prominent Filler Coat

Fillercoat is a high solids PVA which gives excellent leveling and filling properties on new plaster cement.

Appearance: Matt
Spreading Rate: 3 – 6 m²/litre dependent on surface texture and porosity.
Solids: ± 50% by mass and ± 30% by volume.
Density: ± 1,53 kg/litre.
Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 1 coat at 40 µm minimum.
Viscosity: ± 110 Kµ.
Flash Point: Non-flammable.

Storage:

  • Keep containers properly sealed.
  • Store away from direct heat, sun and severe cold in a place with adequate ventilation.

Features

Intended Usages

  • Mainly as a base coat for subsequent PVA finishes on new interior and exterior plastered walls.
  • Gypsum ceilings.

Application Details

  • Mixing: Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle to an even consistency. Stir occasionally during use.
  • Method: Roller, brush or airless spray.
  • Thinning: Not recommended.
  • Cleaning: Remove as much of the product as possible from the application equipment before cleaning with water.

Conditions:

  • Temperature between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Relative humidity of less than 85%, preferably between 10:00 and 16:00.
  • Ideally apply when the temperature of the substrate is at least 2°C above dew point. If possible away from direct sunlight.

Drying time:
Touch dry – 30 minutes at 23°C.
Note: Higher temperatures will accelerate the drying times (approximately halved for every 10°C increase), whilst lower temperatures will retard the drying time (approximately doubled for every 10°C decrease).

Recoating time:
4 hours at 23°C.

Requirements:
Two coats.

Surface Preparations
Cement plaster:

  • Direct – no primer required.

Gypsum ceiling boards:

  • Prime with one coat of Prominent Dampcure or Prominent Plaster Primer or Prominent Trade Plaster Primer.

Ceilings:

  • Sand to a matt finish, remove dust, clean with ProGold General Purpose Cleaner diluted (1:10) with water, rinse with clean water and apply directly.

Not recommended as final coat on other surfaces.

Limitations

  • Not recommended as a finishing coat due to poor wearing -and stain resistance.
  • Not to be used directly on rhinolite, cretestone and parapet walls.
  • Cannot be applied in cold and moist conditions.
  • Product cannot accommodate excessive movement, i.e. hairline cracking, etc.
  • Not to be used in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Tinting not recommended.

Safety

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure to maintain good ventilation during application and drying process.
  • In case of skin contact, wash with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with running water and seek medical advice.
  • If product is ingested drink plenty of water or milk. Do not induce vomiting at any time. Seek medical advice.

  • To avoid any risk of spillage, always transport in a secure upright position.
